Who can apply for a transfer?

Any resident currently living in an L&Q home may register for a transfer, with the exception of those holding a starter tenancy.

How will my application be assessed?

We will ask you to complete a transfer application form and may then arrange a home visit or interview at our office to check your details. This allows us to assess why you want to move, the type of home that best suits your needs and which areas you would like to move to. We will then send you a copy of your application with confirmation that you are registered on the list.

Can I choose the areas I'm interested in?

Yes, you may choose to move to any area where we own a suitable property. We can assist you by giving advice on where we have properties, availability and demand to help you make your choice(s).

Can an application be prioritised?

Yes. Priority may be given in certain cases to ensure a move to more suitable accommodation.

What happens if I have any medical needs?

If you wish to have medical reasons taken into account, we will ask you to complete a Medical form to accompany your application. We can then pass your application to an independent medical adviser, who is a GP to make an assessment on our behalf based on the information on the form and any supporting evidence you provide.

What if I am unhappy with the way my application has been managed?

You can register any comments or complaints, or make an appeal against a decision using our complaints procedure. Further details can be found in the How to make a complaint section on this site, or by contacting L&Q Direct. (click on the blue links for more information)

On what basis will offers be made?

We will match your application against properties of the size you require in the areas you have chosen. We will offer properties first to those who have been on the list the longest.

How will I know if my application is matched against an offer?

We will write to tell you about the home we can offer, the viewing arrangements and giving a date by which you must respond. At the same time we will write to other residents whose details match the property. You will all be asked to respond by the same date.

How do I accept the offer?

Once the response date has passed we will make the offer to the applicant who has been waiting the longest amount of time on the list. As part of the offer process we will expect you to:

  • Agree to let other applicants view your existing home whilst you are still living there
  • Leave your home in a good and clean condition
  • Take all your belongings and any rubbish with you when you leave your existing home

What happens if I do not accept the offer
made?

Your application will remain on the list and we will tell you about any future offers you may qualify for.

What happens if I have rent arrears?

If you have arrears on your rent account you may still apply for a transfer. However, you will be required to clear the outstanding arrears before we can offer you a property.

Where can I get an application form?

You can obtain a form from L&Q Direct.
