The Kingfishers development in Sidcup, Kent, was formally opened by Councillor June Slaughter on 2 May 2008.

The new affordable homes were built by L&Q - in close partnership with Bexley Council – on the disused site of the former North Cray Primary School. This development now provides 61 homes for affordable rent and 42 for part-buy part-rent - the latter being increased at the request of the council.

Dawn WhiteDawn White, pictured on the cover of ‘Creating Places’, recently moved into The Kingfishers and gave a tour of her new apartment. Dawn has limited mobility, which will get progressively worse. She lives in one of the development’s lifetime homes, which is designed to be adapted as her mobility changes in the future.

Dawn couldn’t be happier with her apartment: “I love living here. I cried when I saw the apartment; I couldn’t believe something like this was possible. I lived with my mum before and although she is close by now, it’s great to have my own independence. My neighbours are lovely and the flat is well suited to my needs. I couldn’t be happier.”
